Teens are developing adults who use their voices and energies to infuse their Jewishness into the next generation. J*Connect is the forum where teens have experiences focused around the values of:

  • Leadership
  • Social Action
  • Education
  • Community
Jewish Teen Collaborative
Together with three area synagogues, our teens gather for events and programs in and around our community and beyond.

Madrichim Teen Leadership Program
Teens look forward to becoming Madrichim Teen Leaders where they can use their own thumbprint and learning to help nurture the growth of our Jewish community. They guide our younger students and provide assistance in the classroom, acting as mentors to our younger students. They can also work in the office or shadow a student with a disability or learning challenge. Leadership training, supervision and resources are provided. Students can be paid or earn community service hours. Madrichim work on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons.

Sample of Previous Jewish Teen Collaborative Events:

Axe Throwing
Teens enjoyed a social evening at Bury the Hatchet, followed by dinner.

Family Promise
Family Promise Essex (formerly Interfaith Hospitality Network) is a not-for-profit organization that provides shelter, professional support services and housing assistance so families experiencing homelessness can find and sustain a home. We do this with help from an extensive network of volunteers, generous individuals and other partners throughout our community.

Midnight Run
A class to learn about homelessness and plan Midnight Run. Then it's off to NYC to distribute food, clothing, blankets and personal care items directly to homeless people living on the streets.

Broadway Show
This year teens went to the play, Prayer for the French Republic, and dinner in NYC.

Seriously Funny: Inclusion Through Comedy and Storytelling
Teens enjoyed an interactive evening with Comedian, Pam Schuller (Disabilities Activist).
