In the Book of Genesis we are told that Abraham and Sarah are in their tent under a tree in the heat when three strangers approached. Abraham sees them and runs to meet them. He brings water for them to wash their feet (important if you travel in the desert) and offers them a resting place in the shade. He then told them he would bring “a morsel” of food but ran off quickly to prepare a big meal.
We, at Temple Sholom, delight in meeting “strangers” in our midst and bringing them into “our tent” to share the kindness, friendship and hospitality found within.
