At Temple Sholom of West Essex (TSWE), we believe Judaism is more than just what you read on the pages. It’s about…
Being welcomed by soulful prayer, tradition, and a diverse, inclusive community.
Enriching your knowledge with a robust catalog of educational courses.
Feeling inspired through engagement and volunteerism.
Visit TSWE and you’ll find a building buzzing with children singing in the youth choir or dancing along with Cantor Wright’s guitar, teens engaging in leadership activities and colorful crafts lining the walls. In quieter spaces you’ll find adults learning with Rabbi Groffman at Torah Study, or participating in lively discussions.
We infuse our religious school with fun interactive learning experiences and a curriculum that reflects our Jewish values. Staff, clergy, and lay leadership constantly innovate ways to support our families and make the Jewish experience energizing for every member.
Discover game nights, community dinners, cantorial concerts, movie screenings, Rosh Hodesh women’s circles, or weekend nature walks. Friday night Shabbat services are enhanced by an occasional guest speaker, or special themed events to celebrate community, like volunteer appreciation, birthday and anniversary blessings, Hebrew name celebrations, and student-led family services.

TSWE’s congregation with over 300 families (and growing) embraces diversity as its strength, and hospitality as our calling. We invite you to visit and learn more.
TSWE offers so many ways for your family to be involved in education, social action, worship and celebration. We foster Jewish commitment with innovative approaches to living in the context of Jewish values and tradition, and also through the power of camaraderie and community. "We’re more than a congregation. We’re a family."
Visit us daily, visit us weekly, or just pop by for a class or service when you feel called to connect. We welcome members to our vibrant community at every age and stage.
