Confirmation - 12th Grade
12th grade is such an important time for our teens to stay connected to Temple and Jewish learning as they strengthen their relationship with the Rabbi as they prepare for the next phase of their lives, which is why we've moved Confirmation from 10th grade to 12th grade.
We will discuss the following, among other topics and questions:
- Antisemitism or Anti-Israel bias they may encounter in college or a work environment. We want to help prepare our students to discuss Israel from a place of knowledge and understanding and with a connection to Israel's importance to the Jewish people.
- Zionism the creation of Israel and some of the major issues Israel faces.
- We will also spend time preparing for college as a Jewish student; we hope to bring in speakers to talk with the students about how best to engage in Jewish life on campus and how to navigate college as a Jew.
Confirmation students will prepare and lead a Confirmation Shabbat service scheduled for March 30th. We will devote several sessions to learning about Jewish prayer, its meaning and how our students relate to prayer.
This year's Confirmation class will be held for 16 weeks on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00pm from December 14 - March 29. The dates of the Confirmation program are based on the busy calendar of high school seniors.
Each Wednesday, we will start with a pizza dinner, followed by Tefillah (services), then class.
