Learning and Leadership Opportunities

TSWE has partnered with American Jewish University to provide a college-accredited program called the Jewish Learning Experience for high school students. Participants can earn 3 college credits by completing both asynchronous and in-person sessions. In-person sesssions are scheduled for 16 Sundays throughout the year in the late afternoon.

Madrichim Teen Leadership providing assistance in the classroom and acting as mentors to our younger students and Madrichim-in-Training (7th graders). Madrichim also work in the office or shadow a student with a disability or learning challenge. Students are either paid or earn community service hours.

‘Wellness & Inclusion’ Madrichim Training Program (2025-2026): geared to new madrichim to develop skills in empathetic listening, mentorship, communication, inclusion for different learners, and more. Most sessions meet via Zoom.

MADLab: a once-monthly in-person session for all TSWE teens on contemporary topics with Rabbi Groffman. From identity and justice to ethics and current events, it’s a space for real talk, big questions, and meaningful conversation rooted in Jewish values.

Jewish Teen Collaborative: social and social-action events held throughout the year with other area synagogues representing the Reform, Conservative, and Reconstructionist movements, as well as with teens whose families are unaffiliated.

Mitzvah Ride: an annual initiative where teen participants collect clothing and donations. Typically, the group travels to NYC to distribute items directly to local communities.

NextDOR: NextDor is our teen-powered crew that teams up with TSWE’s Social Action Committee for hands-on work to spark change and make a difference in our community.
