Meet the Director of Religious School

Cara Moroze

At the heart of every vibrant synagogue is a passion for Jewish learning and connection. And Cara Moroze embodies both. Before embarking on her 25-year career in Jewish education, Cara’s own Jewish roots were deeply planted at Temple Israel in Boston, the largest Reform synagogue in New England, where she studied from kindergarten through high school. Her interest in diverse cultures, traditions, and worldviews led her to Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Religion.

Cara’s journey as a Jewish educator has taken her across the country from Boston to Atlanta to Chicago, where she spent over a decade at Chicago Sinai Congregation as the fourth-grade instructor, as well as guided students through their B’nai Mitzvah and Confirmation milestones. After making her “big return to the East” and settling in Montclair, she taught at several area synagogues and Jewish organizations.

For the past six years, Cara has been an integral part of the TSWE community, teaching second- and fifth-grade Hebrew & Jewish Studies courses, while mentoring students as a B’nai Mitzvah tutor. During the 2024-2025 academic year, she transitioned into the role of Religious School Director, bringing her expertise and dedication to the next generation of Jewish learners.

Ask Cara about her favorite day-trip adventures, challenge her to a game of mahjong, or meet her family’s mini Goldendoodle, Bosworth — named after a beloved Chicago street where she and her husband, Adam, raised their two sons.
